Carry a sealed package toward the city. Keep the black fastback running while unmarked headlights return in the mirror. When the car fails, you have to leave its protection and make the repair.

The drive
Keep the fastback running
Drive until damage or fuel forces a stop. Search for a compatible part, make the repair, and return to the car before the headlights come back.
Repair it outside
Change a tire, replace a dark headlamp, or work under the hood while the car sits open on the shoulder. You can abandon the job and get back inside.
Hold the flashlight steady
A distant figure stops walking while the beam stays on it. Look away to finish the repair, and it starts moving again.
Carry evidence forward
The manifest keeps selected observations between runs. A note found tonight may change what you recognize the next time through.
Route 17
Learn the road before it changes
Route 17 remains driveable, but its signs, mileage, and sequence are less dependable. Learn Last Light, Black Ridge, and Junction Four, then notice when a familiar turn comes back wrong.

Fuel, a room, hot food, or a county file may give the Courier a reason to stop. The people behind those counters know the road through vehicles, deliveries, and written records.

You play the Courier, leaving Last Light with a sealed package in the trunk and unmarked headlights returning in the mirror.
